Summer and sunscreen

Summer is nearing. Though it has been raining these past few weeks, the sun is shining pretty fiercely during the day--enough to burn your skin. So, I take it upon myself to always put suncreen on my face and arms whenever I step out of the house.

Most of the products I use on my face has an SPF of 30 and above. Just last year, I bought two products from The Faceshop, which I wasn't able to use much since it wasn't quite as hot as it is now. Then I received a product from Dermplus, which I got for free from one of their events.

So, heads up to those out there looking for a good sunscreen lotion for protection...

Personally, I don't like sunscreen. They're sticky, thick, and smell like fruit or some kind of butter, which I find too heavy.

Now, a little refresher regarding SPF (sun protection factor). Applying sunscreen with an SPF of 50 means that it would take 50 times of sun exposure that your skin normally can take before it burns. But of course, the amount of solar energy radiated by the sun differs depending on the different times of the day.

Anyway, now that you're familiar with sunscreen, I'll start with the two products from The Faceshop.

First up is the Natural Intensive Sun Cream, available in 50ml and has SPF 50. Just so you know, this sunscreen is always out of stock when I try to buy it. I guess it's because it has the highest SPF count in all of The Faceshop's sunscreen. I had to look at 4 different stores before I got my hands on it...haha

Anyway, I use this product on my face. It comes in the color white and is pretty creamy when I first squeezed some on my hand. As for the scent, it smelled pretty light and floral with a light undertone of your typical sunscreen smell. But other than that, it actually smelled kinda pleasant.

What's nice about this sunscreen is that it doesn't apply sticky and feels pretty light on the skin. But once you rub it in, your skin gets a slight sheen that is normal to most sunscreens :) It's a pretty good buy though a bit pricey, but definitely worth it :)

Next is the Blooming White Rose Body Sunscreen in SPF 30. To date, this is my favorite sunscreen lotion. It's light on the skin, smells really great (I'm a big fan of rose scented products). I know roses can overwhelm your nose when there's too much of it, but the scent of this sunscreen is just right. Not too strong, not to light. The texture is light and blends really well into the skin.Definitely a good buy too!

Last, but not least, is the Dermplus Moisturizing Sun Block in SPF 35. This sunblock is said to be specially formulated for fair and sensitive skin. The texture is slightly more watery than the Faceshop's sunscreen lotion and gives a slightly tight skin feeling after rubbing it in. Kind of feels like a protective layer on your skin, which i think is because of the fact that it's said to be waterproof. It's unscented, which is what I did like about it, and doesn't feel too heavy on the skin.

So, that's pretty much all for now. I find these three products a good buy... and definitely useful. Remember that protecting your skin from the sun's harmful UV rays helps keep your skin young and healthy, so don't forget to lather on some sunscreen before heading out!
